Weapon Sights Fantastic 1x red dot optic with insane battery life and an included mount
You've probably read some of the other reviews,
so mine will probably not surprise you...but perhaps I can offer a
little something different, including how much you really should be
paying.
- 30mm tube for quick target acquisition
- Built-in flip covers that you can work with one finger...and an ability to leave both closed to use the optic with both eyes open
- Waterproof to 150 feet depth
- Included mount that allows quick mounting/unmounting...while maintaining zero
- INSANE battery life
I cannot understate the battery life. Many less expensive red dot optics that are supposedly competitors have battery life rated in the range of hundreds of hours. For example, the Vortex Strikefire at max brightness (dimmer than PRO at max brightness) is rated at 130 hours. The PRO is rated at 30,000 hours at a brightness level 7 (of 10). Frankly, this is the reason that I normally only consider the Aimpoint line. I want it to work...and at 30,000 hours, you don't even turn it off and it works for years.
Of course, there are alternatives in the Aimpoint line, including the much lighter and smaller T1 and H1 models, both of which have longer rated battery life....and they are also excellent options. That said, I went with the PRO, because:
- It includes a mount
- It is far less expensive
- I find that the PRO's flip up covers are far easier to operate when I am ADS
- The larger tube makes quick target acquisition a bit easier for me
The cost is also not a small issue. The T1 and H1 retail for close to $600...without a mount...although LaRue has some great bundled mounts available for only slightly over $600.
