XPS2-0 Weapon Sights

XPS2-0 Weapon Sights

I own a few EOTech sights so I was familiar with their operation and characteristics before buying this one. For those folks who are also familiar with the operation of these sights I will curtail my review to the unique features of the XPS2-0 to "cut to the chase". The XPS2-0 is the standard sight picture model that has the dot with outer ring. The other two models (the XPS2-1 and 2-2) have different sight pictures (which are "just the dot, no ring" and drop compensated dots with ring). I'm a traditionalist so I always get the "standard" EOTech sight picture models.

The big "feature" of this sight compared to other EOTechs is the cross-mounted single CR123 battery compartment. EOTech sights have had issues in the past with the longitudinally mounted batteries. This new cross-mount design is supposed to rectify those issues. I honestly have not shot this sight enough yet to encounter any failures, so if that is a result of the alternate design or simply a short lifespan so far I do not know. Suffice it to say the nature of the issues with the old sights cannot occur on this model.

The second big "feature" of this sight compared to other EOTechs is it's size and height. This is one of the smallest sights EOTech makes as well as one of the shortest. I have this sight mounted on my AR15 SBR. The easiest way to describe it's size is that mine is mounted directly over my ejection port and the sight is as long as the port cover on the top rail. This sight sits low so your iron sights (in my case an LMT A2 rear and a standard front sight post) lie right in the middle of the EOTech field of view. Other EOTech sights sit higher and offer what is known as 1/3 co-witness, meaning your iron sights align low in the sight picture. This allows you to use the sight "above" your BUIS or irons.
